Interactive Research and Development (IRD) is committed to improving the lives of vulnerable communities by building a network that shares ideas and innovations to create global impact. IRD’s mission is to improve the well-being of vulnerable communities through innovation in research and health delivery. IRD, a health research organization, has made a difference in 15 countries and has touched the lives of over 70 million people through their effective health delivery programs, disease surveillance, clinical research and information technology innovations.
The IRD team leverages process, research and technology innovations to address global health delivery gaps at all points of the human life cycle from before a child is born to the care of the elderly. The teams at IRD work for meaningful change by linking private and public health providers to ensure impact in hard to reach communities and work towards building long lasting relationships with key stakeholders.
IRD collaborates with a diverse group of partners and donors to create programs that maximize impact, establish long lasting partnerships and most importantly inspire local leaders to create a meaningful difference in their communities.
IRD is a principal implementation partner to the Indus Hospital in Karachi, the Aurum Institute in Johannesburg and the Harvard Medical School Center for Global Health Delivery-Dubai. IRD also works in close coordination with government agencies, international NGOs, Global Fund, GAVI, WHO, USAID and the Stop TB Partnership depending upon support and relevance.

Qualifications 

  • This opportunity is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • The intern must possess a general understanding of public health, research and computer know-how, adhere to the need for confidentiality of patient and other information related to work, work collaboratively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, apply analytical skills and be able to multitask
  • Applicants must have an interest in pursuing careers in public health, development economics, international development, community development, social entrepreneurship or any related field.

Public Health Intern 

The Internship Program offers students an opportunity to integrate the public health knowledge and skills gained during their coursework with hands-on practical experience under the supervision of qualified staff. Each intern gets an opportunity to participate in key processes for conducting programmatic research and/or service delivery along with fieldwork and data management. There are many opportunities in various public health research and project implementation available for interns to take part in such as field surveys, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis.
