Jubair Hasan

Architect Md. Jubair Hasan is a practicing architect currently working in Bangladesh. The time when Jubair started pursuing education and practice in architecture, the architecture scenario in Bangladesh was rapidly changing to keep pace with the changes in the socio-economic situation. The domination of western modernism on the ongoing architectural practice made him question the appropriateness of the same and led him to embark on a journey to search for a language that would complement the Context, Climate and Culture of his country. Born on 5th January, 1981, Md. Jubair completed Bachelor in Architecture from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2008. He started his career as an architect at ‘Vitti Sthapati Brinda Ltd’ where he worked from 2008 to 2010. Afterwards he founded ‘Archeground Architects Ltd.’ with two other partners and worked there as one of the principal architects until his solo practice commences as ‘Jubair Hasan Architects’ in 2022.

Md Jubair sees each of his projects as an attempt towards his vision of developing architectural vocabulary that can truly represent the socio-economic attributes and contextual demands of the people and culture where the project belongs. Architect Jubair received position in several awards and competitions, both national and international, namely Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2019 (shortlisted), 26th JK Cement Award (Foreign Countries Architect of the Year), ARCASIA Award for Architecture, 2017 (Honorable Mention), Institute of Architects (IAB) Award (Honorable Mention), 2A Asia Architecture Award,2015 (Gold Medal) etc .
