Arpit Shah is an interdisciplinary researcher who works at the intersection of urban studies and the environment. Arpit’s recent work has examined the justice implications of urbanization and climate change on communities in South Asia. He employs both quantitative and qualitative methods in his research, including the use of spatial data analysis. Arpit’s work has been accepted (or is forthcoming) in leading field journals such as Demography, Global Environmental Change, and Landscape and Urban Planning. His ongoing research has been awarded a competitive grant by Evidence in Governance and Politics (EGAP) network.

Since 2021, Arpit has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Public Policy area at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, where he teaches both PhD and Master’s level courses. He earned his PhD from IIM Ahmedabad. Prior to his PhD, he worked as a Strategy Consultant with the Monitor Group for four years, including spending significant time with its social sector practice.
