Azam Khan
Hon’ble Urban Development Minister of Uttar Pradesh
Mohammad Azam Khan is currently the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. He is a founding member of the Samajwadi party, a four time cabinet minister in the Government of Uttar Pradesh and an eight time legislator in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. He has also been the leader of opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly once. At the national level, he was also elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha in 1996. He has been at the forefront of developing the policy and providing leadership to the state in his long and illustrious career. Apart from the management of important fairs such as the Ardh Kumbh and the Maha Kumbh Mela, he has been instrumental in developing various welfare schemes of the government. He has keen interest in the issues relating to education especially of the girl child and the minority community. He is the founder Chancellor of the Mohammad Ali Jauhar University at Rampur. He holds an LLB (Hons.) Degree from the Aligarh Muslim University. He lives in Rampur with his wife and two sons.
