Home Institution: Prof. Raghavan Varadarajan, Molecular Biophysics Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

Field of Specialization:  Molecular Genetics and Protein Biophysics

Research:  My PhD work involved comprehensive analyses of extensive datasets for mutational sensitivities of a globular and an intrinsically disordered protein through saturation mutagenesis. Careful analysis of the data resulted in an unexpected finding relating to previously unexplored fitness effects of synonymous mutations through effects on cellular protein levels.

Boston Faculty Mentor: Prof. Philippe Cluzel, Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at Harvard University
