Sachin Kumar is a globally recognised leader in Artificial Intelligence, renowned for his pioneering work at the intersection of AI technology and societal impact. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the Cluster Innovation Centre, University of Delhi, he is also the Executive Officer of the University of Delhi Foundation. With over 12 years of experience in academia, industry, and research, Dr. Kumar has established himself as a thought leader in the domain of ‘AI for Social Good’. Dr. Kumar holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Delhi, where his groundbreaking research featured in top-tier journals such as Energy and Buildings (Elsevier, IF=7.6), Sustainable Cities and Societies (Elsevier, IF=11.5) and the like.

His research focuses on leveraging AI/ML to solve urban societal challenges, specifically climate change and sustainability in urban environments. His interdisciplinary work spans areas including AI/ML, Natural Language Processing, Urban Computing, Intelligent Information Systems and AI Governance. As a principal investigator, Dr. Kumar has led several funded research projects addressing urban challenges, climate change, and computational social systems. Dr. Kumar has authored two influential books: Operating Systems: Concept Building and Problem-Solving Approach (Cengage, USA) and Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, and Society(Springer). His edited book “Artificial Intelligence, Ethics, and Governance Challenges: Reflections from Policy Landscape” (Springer) is in the press. His extensive publication record includes over 35 research articles in high-impact journals and conferences, contributing significantly to the advancement of AI in societal contexts. Dr. Kumar’s expertise is sought after on international platforms.

He has been invited to present at prestigious conferences such as IEEE-WCCI, IEEE-ICJNN, and ACM-ICEGOV. His contributions to policy discussion include substantial inputs to G20 2023 and ORF policy documents, reflecting his commitment to shaping AI governance on a global scale. Beyond academia, Dr. Kumar actively engages with the public through his social media and YouTube channel, “Prof Sachin Kumar”(@profsachinkumar1), where he discusses issues at the intersection of technology and societal implications. He also writes for national news publications, furthering his mission to promote AI-driven solutions for real-world challenges and empower the youth in AI/technology awareness.
