As the Director of Business Operations and Finance at the Mittal Institute, Mirela plays a critical role in overseeing the Institute’s business operations, ensuring that all programs, financial, administrative, and compliance functions run seamlessly. She acts as a strategic thought-partner to the Faculty and Executive Director, driving decisions that ensure operational efficiency as the Institute grows. With deep expertise in management, research administration, and financial management gained through years of leadership at Harvard University, Mirela is instrumental in managing the Institute’s complex business and financial functions for both Cambridge and New Delhi offices. Mirela’s leadership includes the development of business strategies to support the Institute’s long-term growth.
In addition to her internal role, Mirela liaises with faculty, external partners, Harvard departments, and key University partners, such as Harvard Global, Office of Sponsored Programs, FAS Human Resources, FAS Finance, FAS Division of Social Science, OVPIA, to ensure the Institute remains aligned with Harvard policies and business best practices.
With over 18 years of experience at Harvard, Mirela is dedicated to leveraging her expertise in business operations and finance to advance the Institute’s mission. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Tirana and a master’s degree in Management with a concentration in Finance and Control from Harvard University. Passionate about operational excellence, she is committed to ensuring the Institute’s continued success and future growth.
