Ajmal Khan A.T is an interdisciplinary researcher who works at the intersection of environment, development, and climate change. His current research looks at how universal frameworks of climate justice negotiate with local and specific experiences of climate change in regions of South Asia. It theorizes what climate justice might mean in India, with the complex socio-ecological and climatic hierarchies such as caste, community, class, gender, and species. His project conceives of alternative frameworks/notions of climate and environmental justice. Previously, he has worked on India’s nuclear expansion plan and protest movements at locations where nuclear power projects are being constructed and proposed, and the interfaces of environmental, energy and social justice. He also contributes to policy and practice challenges on climate change and development.
