Its presence at the ILO is of particular salience to SEWA members and to workers worldwide. The exhibit is now accessible in French, Spanish, and English.
Panel discussion on the impact of heat stress on workers and how unions, governments and global institutions are working to respond to this crisis:
Heat stress impacts workers across sectors from construction to warehouse to agriculture jobs. Heat stress leads to illnesses including heat exhaustion, heatstroke, and even death. In the longer term, workers can develop serious and debilitating chronic diseases, impacting the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, as well as the kidneys. The number of workers suffering the consequences of excessive heat is alarming and legislation and occupational safety and health protections have struggled to keep up. Despite these challenges, there are models for addressing heat stress that are being developed and implemented by unions, governments, and educational and global institutions. Join us on June 9 to learn more about the important steps being taken to address heat stress in the workplace!
