On the six-month anniversary of the Taliban’s swift takeover of Afghanistan, this virtual event, moderated by Davis Center Fellow Fara Abbas, explores Afghanistan under Taliban rule. Together with our expert panel of speakers, we will address the political, economic, and security developments in Afghanistan and the way forward. The consequences of a Taliban failure to govern are far-reaching.

This event will address the following questions: What can be expected from the Taliban in the coming months as they try to consolidate their power? How might the U.S. and regional governments’ relations with the Taliban evolve? And how can the humanitarian catastrophe be addressed to mitigate a looming disaster?

This event is co-sponsored by the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard.
