Dr. P. Sivakami is an acclaimed Indian author who writes across many genres of literature. She is the author of six novels, four collections of short stories, and many essays and other works of non-fiction. She served in the Indian Administrative Service for 28 years, retiring to enter politics. Her first book, Pazhiyana Kazhidalum, was the first novel in Tamil to be authored by a Dalit woman. She translated the novel herself under the title The Grip of Change.
