Join us for a scintillating conversation with the distinguished Gurcharan Das on his much admired and humorous memoir, ‘Another Sort of Freedom‘, about one man’s struggle to give purpose and meaning to life — in his own words ‘Make a life, not just a living’. He will be in a tête-à-tête with Hitesh Hathi, Executive Director of the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard University. They will converse about the author’s remarkable journey from corporate leadership to literary acclaim to a search for non-transcendental moksha (freedom).

He graduated in philosophy with honors from Harvard University, and was later inducted into Phi Beta Kappa for ‘high attainments in liberal scholarship’. He also attended Harvard Business School(AMP) where he is featured in four case studies. He was CEO of Proctor &Gamble India, and Managing Director of Procter and Gamble Worldwide (Strategic Planning) before he retired at 50 to become a full-time writer. He has written eight remarkable books, the latest being ‘The Dilemma of an Indian Liberal’.
Hitesh Hathi is the Executive Director of The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard University. He brings over 20 years of experience from WBUR, Boston’s NPR station, most recently as Executive Producer of the show Radio Boston, and a deep, lifelong engagement with South Asia. Hitesh received his Master’s of Arts degree from Harvard in Sanskrit and Indian Studies, was a PhD candidate in the Department of South Asian Studies and has been an Assistant and Acting Resident Dean at Harvard’s Cabot House.
