The talk will be moderated by Prof. Jayati Ghosh, Professor of Economics, University of Massachusetts Amherst.

His field of specialization is modern South Asian and Indian Ocean history. His other books include His Majesty’s Opponent: Subhas Chandra Bose and India’s Struggle against Empire (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 2011) and A Hundred Horizons: the Indian Ocean in the Age of Global Empire (Cambridge, MA: Harvard University Press, 2006). Jayati Ghosh taught economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for nearly 35 years, and since January 2021 she has been Professor of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA. She has authored and/or edited 20 books and more than 200 scholarly articles. Her recent books include The making of a catastrophe: Covid-19 and the Indian economy (Aleph Books 2022) and When governments Fail: Covid-19 and the Economy (Tulika Books and Columbia University Press 2021) (co-edited).
