About the exhibition: HUM SAB EK, We Are One, is a multi-media exhibition inspired by the lives of members of the 3 million strong Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) in India. Fifty years of organizing, at the intersection of the feminist, labor and cooperative movements, allowed poor women working in India’s informal labor economy to navigate the greatest public health emergency of our times, the COVID-19 pandemic. The installations, designed by an interdisciplinary team of Harvard graduates, in collaboration with SEWA’s members, are based on Dr. Satchit Balsari’s research comprising interviews of over 1000 households.
