Mittal Institute Associates
About
The Mittal Institute Associates Program accepts a limited number of researchers and faculty whose area of interest is South Asia and is looking to collaborate with the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute. Associates will contribute to the academic study of South Asia on campus by bringing their expertise on a wide range of issues to the University.
The Mittal Institute Associatess will receive a Harvard ID that provides library privileges to the 70+ Harvard University Libraries. In addition, Associates will receive regular mailings and invitations to Harvard/Mittal Institute events, lectures and symposia. The Mittal Institute Associates are encouraged to participate in seminars based on The Mittal Institute faculty research interests at least once during the academic year. Associates are encouraged to be in touch if they have an unique event idea, with understanding that not all requests can be accommodated.
In addition, Associates are asked to be available to Harvard students and scholars for research inquiries related to their area of research. Associates are appointed without stipend (unpaid), and they are expected to provide their own funding and living expenses. Associates are not housed in The Mittal Institute offices, and must independently arrange for work space as well as administrative support.
Eligibility
The Mittal Institute allows for applications from scholars, professors and researchers who have completed a Ph.D., who are visitors at Harvard University in Cambridge, or are in residence in the New England regions or near the Mittal Institute Delhi Office in India. Remote scholars will also be considered as long as they are able to support Harvard faculty and student research. Associates are appointed by The Mittal Institute for one-year terms after review of the required application materials (please see below).
