Last week, Art Heritage and the Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute at Harvard University unveiled A Space Between Selves, an exhibition showcasing the work of three former Visiting Artist Fellows: Cop Shiva, Pattabi Raman, and Sunanda Khajuria. The show highlights practices deeply rooted in questions of identity, transformation, and cultural hybridity.
The opening drew a crowd of around 50 attendees. The program began with welcome remarks from Tariq Allana, Associate Director of Art Heritage, and Hitesh M. Hathi, Executive Director of the Mittal Institute. A guided walkthrough followed, led by artists Pattabi Raman and Cop Shiva, who offered insight into their creative processes. Writer and critic Trisha Gupta, author of the exhibition essay, also shared reflections on Sunanda Khajuria’s work.
The exhibition marks the start of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Mittal Institute’s Visiting Artist Fellowship (VAF), a program built on the belief that artistic practice thrives through research, cross-cultural exchange, and exposure to new intellectual environments. This philosophy aligns with Art Heritage’s mission to support artists at pivotal points in their careers, providing a space where experimentation meets public engagement. Together, the institutions position A Space Between Selves as both a culmination of ongoing artistic exploration and a continuation of dialogues that span regions, disciplines, and modes of inquiry.
A Space Between Selves is on view through January 3, 2026, at Art Heritage Gallery, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
