GoMango wins Seed for Change Competition

The Craftsmen, one of the student group finalists in SAI’s Seed For Change Competition, is a small forest enterprise facilitator that creates new value chains, provides year-round employment for forest dwellers, and trains communities in sustainable harvesting practices.
“I wasn’t just reading the headlines; I was experiencing the problems and fortunes of the people of Delhi in real time,” writes Shaiba Rather, Harvard College student who spent her winter session interning at NDTV in India.
The annual South Asia Week, co-sponsored by the Future of Diplomacy Project and the South Asia Institute, will feature an influential array of regional practitioners and experts on India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
“The kindness and perseverance of the people are the lasting impressions I have of Nepal,” says Yoko Okura, Harvard Kennedy School student, who spent her winter session interning with Daayitwa, a local NGO based in Kathmandu.
SAI will be hosting Nepalese artist Milan Rai at Harvard from April 11-15, 2016. He will visit courses, meet with students and faculty, and give a public talk on April 13.
On Saturday, March 26, Harvard Dharma and the Harvard India Student Group hosted a Holi celebration with over 200 students.
“I’m interested in this idea of the victim and crisis, and how it can be represented in art,” says Paribartana Mohanty, SAI’s Visiting Artist.
“I learned to practice cross-cultural compassionate care and learned about a broken health-care system,” writes Harvard dental student Hannah Yoo about her time conducting research on the oral and nutritional health of women and children in Mumbai.
Austin and Patrick spent part of their winter session in Nepal, conducting research on their project ‘Nepal Earthquake Relief Effort Data Usage Narrative.’
Congratulations to Harvard College students Javier Aranzales and Tamara Fernando, whose photos, taken in Mumbai, India, and Jaffna, Sri Lanka, were chosen by SAI for the Office of International Education’s Annual International Photo Contest.
