Harvard students in South Asia this summer
This summer, over 30 undergraduates and graduate students will be in South Asia for research and internships, on topics ranging from the role of media in Indian democracy, Sanskrit study, to postwar resettlement in Kilinochchi, Sri Lanka.

On Thursday, February 27, SAI hosted its first webinar of the semester, titled ‘Societal Grand Challenges and the role of Engineering Education in the 21st Century’ with Professor Narayanamurti of SEAS and HKS, who described engineering as “the ultimate liberal art” because of its role as a linking discipline.

Harvard faculty share corporate social responsibility lessons with leaders in Mumbai
SAI collaborated with the World Bank to organize a four-day Executive Development Program titled “Non-State Players in Human Development – Achieving India’s Goals” in Mumbai from February 3rd to February 6th, 2014 with professors Kash Rangan of HBS, Tarun Khanna of SAI and HBS, and Ashish Nanda of HLS.

Khanna says that Indian state-run companies are much better placed to implement meaningful programmes of corporate social responsibility (CSR) than their private sector counterparts, owing to the large scale on which they operate and their accessibility to the government.

On November 25, 2013, SAI hosted a webinar titled “Tackling Gender Based Violence in South Asia – What Options Do We Have?” as part of SAI’s ongoing webinar series. The interactive discussion featured sites across Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh. To make the webinar interactive across the globe, SAI utilized social media to take questions and monitor the discussion online.
